Troveo, the platform helping content owners monetize from AI, today announced its launch from stealth with $4.5 million in seed funding from Seven Seven Six and top angels including Siqi Chen, and Andreas Klinger. The platform allows content owners, including creators, filmmakers, production companies, and others to license their content with AI companies while retaining ownership rights. Troveo has solidified deals with prominent AI companies and will surpass $5M in payouts to content owners by end of year.
Content Owners’ Problem: No Rules, Regulations, or Money
Lawmakers remain years behind in understanding and regulating the industry, leading to a largely unregulated landscape where AI companies can freely scrape data from the internet without compensating the rightful owners. This lack of oversight has especially impacted content creators, who may invest over a million dollars in a single video, only to receive no compensation from AI companies using their work.
“AI companies have often been viewed as adversaries to the creative industry, but we believe there’s a better way forward,” said Marty Pesis, co-founder and CEO of Troveo. “Our platform enables creators to collaborate with AI companies in a way that guarantees fair compensation for their contributions.”
Troveo’s Solution: Helping Creatives Monetize in the Era of AI
Troveo addresses these challenges with a platform that allows content owners to monetize their work specifically for AI. By uploading content to Troveo, creators can secure licensing deals with AI companies looking to train their models with quality data. Troveo prioritizes creators, enabling them to retain ownership and license their content multiple times, generating recurring revenue.
Founded by Marty Pesis, a 15-year veteran of the creator economy, Troveo benefits from his extensive industry experience. Pesis’ first company, SociaLink, which he sold in 2017, helped celebrities grow audiences and launch products. He later joined Cameo as one of its first employees, where he led marketing and helped develop Cameo for Business. Most recently, Pesis founded Vouch, a creator hiring platform acquired by MrBeast. Pesis teamed up with cofounder Trent Krupp, a marketplace expert with a background in tech, Hollywood, and new media.
“There’s significant momentum in the data training market,” noted Alexis Ohanian, Founder and General Partner at Seven Seven Six. “Creators are exploring new revenue streams, while AI companies seek high-quality data. No one understands this space better than Marty.”
