1000 Babies sets a new standard in Malayalam entertainment. Here’s why this web series is the perfect binge-watch

The much-anticipated Malayalam web series 1000 Babies, starring Neena Gupta and Rahman, has finally been released. This 7-episode psychological thriller is set to captivate audiences with its gripping storyline and top-notch production. From Neena Gupta’s stellar performance to Sanju Sivaram’s unexpected character transformations, the series is packed with compelling elements that make it a perfect binge-watch.

The Plot!

In her final moments, former head nurse Sarammachi, also known as Sara Ousep (played by Neena Gupta), makes a shocking revelation that has the potential to upend the lives of over 1,000 families. The creators skillfully keep this secret hidden until the end of the third episode, after which the story shifts to CI Aji Kurian (Rahman) and his team as they deal with the fallout. This revelation serves as the series’ key twist, leaving viewers questioning, “OMG! Could that really happen?” Arouz Irfan and Najeem Koya have excelled in crafting the script.

Star Cast

Neena Gupta has truly embodied her character. Sara’s initial makeover, reminiscent of certain notorious psychopaths from international series, is striking. Despite a few noticeable dubbing inconsistencies, she navigates these challenges with exceptional talent.

While Rahman has portrayed various police roles, notably his fan-favorite character in Dhuruvangal Pathinaru, Aji Kurian stands out for his unique style and composure. A memorable scene showcases Aji’s struggle to conceal his anxiety as his family welcomes a new baby, beautifully revealing deeper layers of his character yet to be explored.

Sanju Sivaram and Radha Gomati, both deserve high praise for their performances. As the producer aptly noted in the press meet, 1000 Babies is truly Sanju Sivaram’s Aadujeevitham. From his various transformations throughout the series to his bold choice to appear nude as Bipin, he has pushed boundaries.

Radha Gomati was simply brilliant. While Neena Gupta portrayed the older Sara, filled with remorse, Radha captured the essence of the younger Sara with her wicked smile and vengeful expressions.

Filmmaking

The technical team behind the series truly deserves high praise. From the very first shot of the knife falling onto a worm to the framing of Sanjeev’s interrogation, Faiz Siddik’s cinematography skillfully captures the mystery in every frame.

The editing team has also made noteworthy contributions, particularly with the clever shot of the writing reappearing as Aji Kurian enters Sara’s room—it certainly stands out. The color grading of the series is striking, especially in Sara’s imaginary world where cradles are depicted; it’s incredibly imaginative. Furthermore, the art department has done an exceptional job, creating the ideal backdrop for each unfolding mystery.
