BackOps.ai Raises $2M in Pre-Seed Funding to Transform Supply Chain Automation

BackOps.ai, an AI-powered platform designed to automate supply chain logistics and streamline operations, has raised $2 million in pre-seed funding. The round was led by Gradient, Google’s early-stage AI fund, with additional participation from 10VC.

The platform offers supply chain businesses an easy way to integrate AI into their existing workflows, automating processes based on data insights that once required backend engineering. With its simple interface and plain-text commands, BackOps.ai helps companies optimize their global supply chain tech stacks, delivering substantial operational efficiency and cost savings.

With the potential to streamline a $100B+ logistics market, BackOps.ai will use the funding to scale the company to meet existing and projected customer demand as well as to expand use cases through further product development. The company plans to build on the success of its current product by eliminating manual data entry, enhancing cross-departmental communication, and ultimately driving operational efficiency to enable teams to focus on strategic initiatives and customer satisfaction.

BackOps.ai was co-founded by Sean McCarthy and Henry Ou, two experts in logistics and AI. Sean, one of the early hires at Amazon Shipping, led a global sales team at Amazon and identified significant operational inefficiencies within the supply chain industry. Recognizing the transformative potential of AI, Sean and Henry leveraged their expertise to create BackOps.ai—a platform designed to bring accessible and effective AI solutions to logistics businesses of all sizes.

“BackOps.ai is not just addressing today’s supply chain challenges—it’s built for the future of operations. We’re helping businesses turn complexity into opportunity by using AI to unlock new levels of efficiency, visibility, and scalability,” said Sean McCarthy, co-founder and CEO of BackOps.ai. “This funding will allow us to further empower our customers to streamline operations and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving industry.”

Customers are already experiencing significant value from BackOps.ai, reducing costs and improving service delivery. Current use cases include automating daily reports, customer updates, internal notifications, revenue calculations, and more.

“BackOps.ai is leading a major shift in logistics, integrating AI and automation into warehouses and third-party logistics providers. We’re excited to support Sean and Henry as they improve outcomes for shippers, customers, and warehouses alike,” said Zach Bratun-Glennon, General Partner at Gradient.

“BackOps.ai has become an essential part of our daily eCommerce fulfillment operations. More importantly, it has reshaped how we think about AI and automation,” said Jake Brenner, CEO of ShipLab SD. “Partnering with BackOps.ai has inspired us to rethink our approach to efficiency.”

With its user-friendly, plain-text interface, BackOps.ai acts as the central nervous system connecting various technologies—such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), CRMs, ERPs, and project management tools—into a unified stack. The platform enables seamless data sharing and real-time process automation through key features designed for accessibility:

  • Process Listener: Identifies processes ready for automation.
  • Process Coder: Continuously generates scripts to automate processes.
  • Process Automator: Implements these scripts to create a constantly improving supply chain system.
