Schoolchildren Caught Amid Tensions as Anti-Mosque Protesters Clash with Police in Sanjauli, Himachal
Communal tension in Sanjauli, Shimla, caused panic as schoolchildren were caught amid protests on Wednesday. Despite prohibitory orders banning gatherings of five or more, schools remained open, prompting parents to rush and collect their children. Residents criticized the administration for negligence, as the safety of students was at risk. Police resorted to lathicharge to clear the area.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap had issued the orders to maintain law and order, prohibiting protests and restricting weapon possession. However, protests demanding the demolition of a mosque claimed to be on government land continued.
