Dublin Startup Customs Window Secures €800K to Streamline Customs Declarations

Customs Window Technologies, an innovative Irish RegTech startup, has successfully closed an €800k seed funding round. This investment, supported by private investors, Enterprise Ireland’s EIIS, and the High Potential Startup (HPSU) programme, will fuel Customs Window’s strategic expansion into the UK market, where regulatory complexities and customs requirements are on the rise.

Customs Window, founded in 2022 by Brian Murphy and Johnny Dunne, addresses the growing challenges of customs declarations, especially in the wake of Brexit and the ongoing growth in e-commerce. Based at NexusUCD in Dublin, the company provides a comprehensive compliance system that leverages advanced process automation and AI to simplify customs management, allowing businesses to meet evolving customs requirements efficiently.

Addressing growing compliance needs in the UK market

With over 91 million customs declarations processed by the UK’s HMRC in 2023 and regulatory changes expected in 2025, Customs Window sees significant potential in the UK market. The Dublin-based platform, designed for e-commerce and logistics companies, uses advanced automation and an open API to streamline customs declarations and ensure compliance.

CEO Johnny Dunne stated, “This funding will enable us to expand in the UK, our primary target market. We’re grateful for the backing from our investors, Enterprise Ireland, and the EIIS programme.”

Simplifying customs compliance for modern businesses

Customs Window provides businesses with a robust solution to navigate the increasing complexities of customs compliance, a challenge that often extends well beyond delivery. As COO Brian Murphy explained, “Our system simplifies customs declarations while safeguarding sensitive data throughout, significantly lowering the risks for companies managing international shipments.”

Leveraging AI and automation, Customs Window’s platform not only ensures compliance but also cuts down on the time, costs, and stress involved in handling declarations. In Ireland alone, customs declarations soared from under 2 million in 2020 to more than 54 million in 2023, fueled by post-Brexit adjustments, the e-commerce boom, and evolving EU standards. Customs Window’s technology is expertly positioned to meet these growing demands.

An international vision with strong support

The recent €800k funding round attracted key industry figures, including Mike Stalley, founder and former CEO of Fiscal Reps, who joins Customs Window as an advisor, offering deep expertise in compliance software and strategic growth. Customs Window’s involvement in University College Dublin’s AI Ecosystem Accelerator Programme, run by NovaUCD and CeADAR, reflects its strong commitment to integrating AI into its platform.

Anne Lanigan, Divisional Manager of Technology & Services at Enterprise Ireland, praised the company’s innovation: “Customs Window Technologies is a prime example of Irish innovation addressing global challenges. Enterprise Ireland is proud to support the team as they scale internationally and reach this important milestone.”

With this funding, Customs Window is well-positioned to make a substantial impact in the UK market, offering businesses a streamlined, AI-powered solution to tackle the complexities of customs compliance.
