Janhvi Kapoor Voices Support for Nayanthara: A Moment of Unity in Cinema
Mumbai, Nov 19 : Janhvi Kapoor has expressed her admiration and support for actress Nayanthara, calling her a “strong woman.”
Janhvi Kapoor recently took to Instagram to show her admiration for Nayanthara, sharing her thoughts on the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. Reposting Netflix’s announcement, the Dhadak actress wrote, “Nothing more inspiring than watching a strong woman be a strong woman,” adding a red heart emoji to emphasize her support.
The documentary, which premiered on Netflix on November 18, offers a glimpse into Nayanthara’s life, exploring the key milestones in her career and personal journey, including her relationship with filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, which began on the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.
Janhvi’s supportive post comes amidst ongoing tension between Nayanthara and actor Dhanush. On November 16, Nayanthara shared an open letter on Instagram addressing her grievances with Dhanush, revealing a strained professional relationship.
In her letter, the Jawan actress accused Dhanush of resenting her success, describing him as envious and “small-hearted.” She alleged that he harbored personal animosity toward her and Vignesh Shivan. Nayanthara criticized Dhanush for projecting a public persona at odds with his behavior, calling on him to “remove the mask” and stop pretending to be someone he isn’t.
One particularly shocking allegation revolved around a legal notice Dhanush reportedly sent following the release of the documentary trailer. In the notice, Dhanush objected to the use of three seconds of behind-the-scenes footage, demanding ₹10 crores in damages. Nayanthara called this move “an all-time low” and a reflection of his true character.
In her letter, she wrote, “What’s even more shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer of the Netflix documentary. We were startled to read those lines wherein you questioned the usage of some videos (just 3 seconds) which were shot on our personal devices and that too BTS visuals that are already very much publicly present on social media. This speaks so much about your character. I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage at audio launches, but clearly, you do not practice what you preach.”
The controversy has drawn reactions from several actresses who have worked with Dhanush. Shruti Haasan, Aishwarya Rajesh, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nazriya Fahadh, Anupama Parameswaran, and Parvathy Thiruvothu have publicly expressed their support for Nayanthara, further amplifying the conversation around the ongoing dispute.
As Nayanthara’s letter continues to make waves, Janhvi Kapoor’s gesture has resonated with fans, serving as a reminder of the solidarity shared among strong women in the entertainment industry.
