MealMe Secures $8M to Expand Food Ordering Integration Technology

MealMe, a unified API platform that enables food and retail ordering within consumer apps and websites, has secured $8 million in Series A funding, bringing its total funding to $16 million. Founded in 2019, MealMe initially launched as a consumer app to help users find the best deals on food and grocery deliveries. It later allowed users to order directly within the app but has since pivoted to a B2B model, now offering its API to other businesses.

With MealMe’s API, companies can provide customers with real-time pricing and availability for over a billion products from more than 1.2 million grocery stores, restaurants, and retailers across the U.S. and Canada. This allows customers to order from local stores seamlessly within partner applications and websites. MealMe’s technology is already being used by more than 100 clients, including major names like Fantuan Delivery, Favor Delivery, and Tripadvisor.

The newly raised capital will help MealMe expand its technology and support the increasing demand for integrated food and retail ordering solutions, allowing businesses to streamline product access and enhance the customer experience.

Matthew Bouchner, co-founder and president of MealMe, explained that MealMe initially developed its API to integrate store ordering into its own consumer app. However, the team soon saw a greater opportunity in pivoting to B2B, providing infrastructure for platforms needing menu and inventory access to support embedded commerce.

“Embedded commerce is the future,” Bouchner said. “Soon, consumers will be able to order from their car, TV, social apps, or AI assistants. We’re building the infrastructure layer to connect these consumer platforms with stores and marketplaces, positioning MealMe at the forefront of this shift for years to come.”
